Back in Tunga, Leyte

Alas, a bed for me to sleep in longer than one night. I was excited to spend my last days at the house of Auntie Violeta with all the kids and chaos. This time gave me a chance to really get to know at least one town instead of just having to zoom through and rush to the next city. Tunga, well it's definitely small but it's close to other surrounding towns that are easily accessible by motor bike or bus.  My stay here was nice and I was able to appreciate the routines that my auntie and the kids went through on any normal given day. One of which included laundry and I can now officially say that my clothes have been washed in the river. Haha, sounds cool but what makes it even better is that this wasn't just some errand that we as Americans would normally rush to get done and over with. No, for this, we packed food, brought furniture, swim suits, umbrellas, the whole sha-bang. The aunties washed the clothes, the kids swam in the river, we ate a huge meal and enjoyed our time in the sun as if we had planned a regular Sunday at the park. Very different from my laundry days which would normally be on a Sunday or Monday night that would begin at 8pm while I cooked my dinner and did my homework. Yeah...I think I prefer the former laundry kind of day. :-)

Another part of the every day routine, the Farm. Right now, they are currently constructing a green house and it was exciting to see how they built it out of bamboo. My aunties kept bugging me, telling me to get out there and show them how to build a real green house but I wouldn't dare! They were the pros, bamboo and all...plus the heat, no thank you! But of course, they found something for me to do, harvest! Ugh...fine, when in Rome right? A bag full of peppers later and I was packing up and getting ready to head back to the city of Manila to catch my flight out to the next country.
