I now live in Hok Tau Wai, Fanling, a village about 15 minutes outside of town that is accessible by mini bus or taxi. I wouldn't trust the drivers to ride a bike around here. The roads are windy and the drivers are crazy. Plus, that god awful You Tube video of that little girl getting hit in China always flashes in my head when I'm in the presence of a wreckless driver. Anyways, the farm I work on is a 10 minute walk from my house and then about a 10 minute hike through the forest. Nestled in between mountains, the boundary of the farmland is determined by the natural river that surrounds it. The forest around the farm is so dense that it feels like there could be a whole tribe in there watching me and I'd never know it. This place is straight-out-of-a-movie beautiful. With only 2-3 people constantly working on the farm, plus of course the random WWOOFers that come and go, one can tell that these people have put their heart and soul into this place. There is an abundance of organic produce, herbs, a newly built fish farm and the place is still growing. The farm keeper is Mr. Woo. A Mr. Miyagi-esq type of man that knows the ins-and-outs of the whole farm. He lives and breaths this farm and I can already predict I will be working under his direction which means......I'll be a certified green thumb farmer by the time I'm done here!!!
